The Pickwick Landing State Park Golf Course, located along the Tennessee Golf Trail, and the Shiloh Golf Course both offer 18-hole courses in picturesque settings. The five national and state protected areas offer camping, hiking, wildlife viewing and more. Savannah alone has six city-owned parks, including the beautifully designed Tennessee Street Park, a five-acre in-town park with walking trails, splash pads, playgrounds and pavilions.
History and Heritage
The site of the famous Civil War Battle of Shiloh, Hardin County has many well-maintained historic sites. Some of the most well-known men in history gathered in Hardin County and fought in the Battle of Shiloh, including Generals Ulysses S. Grant, William T. Sherman and Albert Sidney Johnston. One of the largest Woodland era sites in the United States, the Shiloh Indian Mounds is located in Hardin County. Savannah includes a Trail of Tears site, the Tennessee River Museum and a beautiful downtown historic district. Along the Tennessee River Trail, you'll find the historic river town of Saltillo, Pickwick Dam and many historic sites.
